Home with the Catch by Colin Jack

Oil on canvas 30x24 inches.

Incredible work by one of my favourite artists, Colin Jack. Originally from the Neuk himself, Colin’s work expresses his love of the Sea and the people who made their lives based on the fruits bestowed by its watery depths. This particular scene will be so familiar to all of us who have been there, and have left, touched forever despite the physical distance. I can still hear the gulls as I sit here on my bed, my body and soul instantly transported to the place.

In Colin's own words;

Featuring a fifie fishing boat (like the Reaper) and the Pittenweem fisherman's memorial statue (moved to the pier).

A special painting.

After 36 years exhibiting at the Pittenweem festival, it looked like we could not go this year due to family illness.

So it was conceived as the boat leaving Pittenweem, saying goodbye.

But things have improved to the point where we are going, fingers crossed.

So I turned the boat round as a welcome back to Pittenweem.
